Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Aim Coronary artery calcium (CAC) score is a proven prognostic marker cardiovascular risk. The aim this study was to evaluate the value CAC on standard chest computed tomography (CT) in patients admitted with COVID-19. Methods We enrolled 144 consecutive (mean age 67± 13, 60.7% male) hospitalized COVID-19, who admission underwent CT detect and assess pulmonary involvement. calculated by two investigators blinded clinical data. Patients were followed-up for 12 months after their admission. Results 106 had image quality sufficient analysis. median 249 Agatston units (interquartile range 658). 33 deaths recorded group during follow-up period. values died period survivors 592 1492) 142 400), respectively. difference between these subgroups statistically significant (p = 0,0001). area under ROC curve predicting all-cause mortality 0.738 (95% CI 0,644 0,819). criterion highest accuracy >143 (positive negative predictive 44,4% 88,4%, respectively). presence associated 3,82 times higher relative risk (95%CI 1.60 – 9,11; p 0.0025). Conclusion measurement based performed COVID-19 involvement increased 12-month follow-up.

Coronary artery calcium (CAC) score – a prognostic tool in coronary artery disease?

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of measurement of coronary artery calcification score (CAC) in patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) and a normal myocardial perfusion scan. Methods: In a prospective study we measured the calcium score of 74 patients (29 m, 45 f, mean age 58.7 (m) and 64.4 (f)) with suspicion of CAD and a normal perfusion scan. In ...

Coronary Artery Calcium Score Improves the Prediction of Occult Coronary Artery Stenosis in Ischemic Stroke Patients

BACKGROUND Coronary heart disease is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in stroke patients. The coronary artery calcium score (CACS) has emerged as a robust and noninvasive predictor of coronary events. We assessed the predictive ability of CACS to identify stroke patients with severe (≥50%) occult coronary artery stenosis in a stroke/transient ischemic attack population, in additio...

Prevalence of coronary atherosclerotic plaque in patients with a low coronary artery calcium score

Introduction Patients with low coronary artery calcium (CAC) scores are deemed to be at low risk of future cardiac events. It is unclear what the prevalence of significant coronary disease is in these patients. It is also not established what cluster of traditional cardiovascular risk factors predict the presence of any coronary plaque in this group. We hypothesised patients with a calcium scor...

Very high coronary calcium score unmasks obstructive coronary artery disease in patients with normal SPECT MPI.

OBJECTIVES To study the clinical impact of a very high coronary artery calcium score (CAC >1000) in patients with no known coronary artery disease (CAD) and normal single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). The secondary aim was to evaluate whether triple vessel disease would support the notion of balanced ischaemia as an underlying mechanism of false...

Carotid artery longitudinal displacement predicts 1-year cardiovascular outcome in patients with suspected coronary artery disease.

OBJECTIVE Total longitudinal displacement (tLoD) of the common carotid artery can be measured using the ultrasound-based velocity vector imaging (VVI) technique. This study aimed to investigate clinical correlates and the possible predictive value of tLoD for cardiovascular outcome. METHODS AND RESULTS Four hundred forty-one patients referred for myocardial perfusion scintigraphy examination ...
